The question came to me today from someone I know and love very much: What does it mean to “suspend the Constitution.?”
My answer: I have no idea. Why not? Because it’s never been done. And it likely never will be done.
However … that’s what came from Donald John Trump over the weekend, as he called for the suspension of all laws and rules, including those prescribed in the U.S. Constitution. His goal — to no one’s surprise — is to install himself as POTUS.
Why is this important, given that there will be no suspension of the Constitution? It’s important because Trump remains a topic of talking heads around the nation and his utterly insane notion of running for president in 2024.
I remain highly dubious his so-called “campaign” will proceed.
However, it is important also to note that this individual who is so manifestly unfit for public office at any level must be scorned and made persona non grata in the American political network.
That this individual would suggest such a thing reveals a truly astonishing level of arrogance, ignorance and nihilism that I — for one — have never, ever seen in a prominent American politician.
All of this also is to suggest an astounding gullibility among many Americans that this individual should be considered a major political figure at all. Except that he is one for reasons that totally and utterly escape my level of understanding.
Trump is an enemy of the Constitution. Consider that he took an oath in January 2017 as president to “protect and defend” our nation’s governing document, only to toss it proverbially into a trash heap by (a) refusing to concede he lost an election, (b) inciting the assault on our government on 1/6 and (c) declaring his desire to suspend the Constitution and reinstall himself as POTUS.
Thus, I take great pleasure in asserting that this criminal never will be elected to any public office again. If only the gullible morons who believe the rubbish that flows from what passes for this guy’s brain could grasp the notion that they are following the machinations of monster.
I believe T**** is guilty of perjury based on the oath-taking on Jan. 20, 2017.
