So many opportunities ...
Remember the line in “Top Gun” where Tom Cruise refers to the nightclub as being a “target-rich environment”?
I am feeling the same way these days — for different reasons, of course — about the state of play in Congress and throughout the political world. The Republican Party is providing so many opportunities for bloggers and other commentators such as me that I almost don’t know where to take aim.
Rep. Paul Gosar of Arizona is just the latest example. Dude posts that idiotic animation depicting how he kills a Democratic colleague and attacks President Biden. He takes it down, but the damage is done. Democrats want to censure the clown; I hope they move to kick his sorry bee-hind out of my House.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene took office at the start of the year after being elected in Georgia. She is a disciple of the QAnon conspiracy crowd and promptly got stripped of her committee assignments over asinine statements she made about public education.
Here in Texas, we get treated to the idiocy of Sen. Ted Cruz, who jetted off to Cancun in February while Texans were freezing to death during the killer winter blast that blanketed the state. We have the likes of Rep. Louie Gohmert, unofficial chairman of the loony bin brigade of Texas GOP officials. Of course, then we have Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Gov. Greg Abbott who continue to exhibit traits that make me question their fitness for the high offices they occupy.
Then, of course, we have the antics of the former Liar/Imbecile/Numbskull/Insurrectionist in Chief, who refuses to acknowledge that he lost the 2020 election to President Biden. Enough said on that moron!
I sit here in the Peanut Gallery wondering what I can write about. Republicans from coast to coast are keeping me busy in this target-rich environment.
Life is good.
