'Peaceful demonstration?' Really?
As the House select committee examining the events of 1/6 continues to do its work, someone will have to explain to me how any member of the congressional Republican caucus can say with a straight face that the violent attack on our system of government was a “peaceful demonstration.”
It was nothing of the sort. Yet there are those within the GOP caucus who keep insisting that there was nothing to see on 1/6, that the “Hang Mike Pence!” signs were a mirage or a hoax. Or that the dude waving the Confederate flag inside the Capitol Building wasn’t really there. Or that congressional cleanup crews didn’t actually clean feces off the floor of our seat of government.
Or that the injuries and death that occurred that day didn’t really happen.
House select committee chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., is issuing subpoenas to relevant advisers to the former POTUS. He is trying to summon them to testify. They are refusing at the ex-Insurrectionist in Chief’s insistence.
If the events of 1/6 were “peaceful,” then it’s fair to ask: Why won’t they talk to the nation? I know why. It’s because it wasn’t peaceful and the more we unravel and unwrap on what the ex-POTUS knew in real time the more obvious it becomes that the direct assault on our electoral process needs to be examined fully, completely and with every bit of muscle that Congress can apply.
Let the probe continue.
